Through twists and turns of fate, orphaned Mary seeks knowledge of life, love, and especially what lies beyond her walled village and the surrounding forest, where dwell the Unconsecrated, aggressive flesh-eating people who were once dead.Originally, I gave this book an 8; but as I continued to read many other books this summer, I realized that this one was one of the best I had read. The survival aspect was riveting and the zombie part was unusual enough to be interesting. Fantasy just isn't my thing, but this was a good one that I stayed up late to read.
